On July 24 Great Salt Lakekeeper will sponsor a Pioneer Day canoe float and parade along the Jordan River to celebrate pioneer history.
Costumes are encouraged. The canoe parade is free and a great activity for families and kids. All ages from 8 to 80 are welcome, said Jeff Salt of Great Salt Lakekeeper. Canoes, paddles and life jackets will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Advanced registration is required. Participants can also use personal boats.
The canoe float and parade will begin at 7 a.m. with canoe decorating. The actual parade down the river will begin at 9 a.m. The event will take place at the Raging Waters parking lot located at 1200 W. 1700 South.
