Pets of the week

This very handsome black Lab is Pattus, an active and fun 3-year-old male. He appears to be a purebred and he absolutely adores playing fetch. The only warning we have about this beautiful boy is that he seems to have some cat aggression issues, so he should live in a cat-free home and he should never be allowed to run loose. He loves people and other dogs. His adoption fee is $95.

Pete is an adorable 3-month-old shorthaired kitten who loves to be held. He's gentle and mellow and his motor is always running. He is super cuddly and he loves affection. Sweet Pete's adoption fee is $65.

Pattus and Pete would like to remind pet parents once again to bring all animals safely inside the house on and around the July 24 holiday.

During the days that fireworks were allowed before and after July Fourth this year, our shelter received 258 lost pets, including 122 dogs. Fireworks are extremely frightening to pets, and many suffer enough anxiety to panic and break free during the festivities. Keep your pets safe by bringing all of them indoors during the celebrations. Place them in a quiet back room with the TV or radio on to calm them. Also be sure they're wearing current identification, and if you leave town, pass these recommendations along to your pet sitter. Pretty Pattus and precious Pete are looking forward to your visit at Salt Lake County Animal Services, 511 W. 3900 South, or call 269-7499. And please check out our pets online at www.slcoanimalservices.org.
