Winner: The good news is that fewer American teens are engaging in premarital sex, at least according to a study in which teens reported on themselves. Also, more kids are finishing high school, and more parents are reading to their little children.
The bad news is that Americans still have a long way to go. The report said 47 percent of high school students reported having had sex. That's down from previous years, but it's still way too high.
Loser: While we're on the subject of children, a new study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition says 55 percent of American kids are suffering from a vitamin D deficiency a figure that rises to 68 percent in the winter. The main reason seems to be a lack of outdoor activities, which also relates to obesity and other health problems.
In other words, get off the computer and go play.
