GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. Additional fire restrictions went into effect here Thursday because of extremely dry conditions.
The new restrictions include prohibiting fires at all backcountry campsites on Jackson Lake, Leigh Lake, Bearpaw Lake, Trapper Lake and Spalding Bay, as well as at the Colter Bay swim beach and String Lake picnic area.
Campfires are allowed only in established fire grates at Lizard Creek, Colter Bay, Signal Mountain, Jenny Lake, Gros Ventre and Flagg Ranch campgrounds and the Colter Bay RV Park.
Separately, the Bureau of Land Management announced it would place partial restrictions on campfires and smoking on its land in Sheridan, Johnson, Campbell, Natrona, Converse, Goshen and Platte counties next week.
