LEHI With the morning portion complete in Thursday's second round of the Utah State Amateur Golf Championship at the Golf Club at Thanksgiving Point, University of Utah golfer Dustin Pimm has the lead at 5-under par 139.
Pimm made birdie on his final two holes to fire a 3-under par 69, which combined with his opening-round 70 puts him two strokes ahead of former Weber State golfer Greg Buckway. Buckway was the first-round leader after a 66 on Thursday, but only managed a 3-over par 75 today.
In at 143, in third, is Jeff Kitches, who posted a 71 today. Former UVSC golfer Nick Van Vuuren has the day's low round with a 68, which puts him at 144, tied with Dan Bloechel.
The afternoon groups are currently on the course, with Michael McRae starting at 5-under par and Scott Clark and Carl Jensen at 2-under par. Following completion of today's round, the low 32 will advance to match play. With Thursday's morning scoring being higher than Wednesday's, officials are predicting the cut will come at 147.
