ST. GEORGE A former Dixie High School teacher accused of sexually abusing at least four students has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges.
Ronald Sherman, 61, was arraigned in 5th District Court on Tuesday on five counts of sexual battery, a class A misdemeanor. Court minutes indicate Sherman entered the not guilty pleas and asked for a jury trial.
Sherman is accused of inappropriately touching students at Dixie High School, where he taught from 1991 until May 2007. In April, some students complained to Washington School District officials about inappropriate comments made in Sherman's class, prompting an investigation. St. George police later became involved.
