The Salt Lake District Attorney's Office filed charges today against a former Cyprus High School English teacher accused of having sex with one of her juvenile students.
Christy Anne Brown, 33, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Sunday. She was charged in 3rd District Court today with three counts of second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse.
Brown was arrested after a West Valley City police officer found her in a parked car along with a male juvenile near 2900 South and 5600 West.
Brown was the boy's high school English teacher, according to a jail booking report and court documents obtained today. She told police she first had sex with the boy this past April 8 and the incidents had continued until the time she was arrested. The boy is now 17 years old.
"The suspect admits to having sex over 40 times. She also admitted to having oral sex with the juvenile at her home and also at work," the jail report stated.
Brown was being held today in the jail, and bail was set at $30,000. Her home address is listed in Houston. Brown reportedly moved to Texas from Utah recently to take a new job.
The Granite School District was just learning of the situation today and wasn't prepared to make a comment. West Valley police also declined to comment.
Brown's biographical page on Cyprus High's Web site only contains a "Lorem Ipsum" paragraph typically used as a dummy sheet place holder by the printing industry.
If convicted of all three felonies, Brown could face up to 45 years in prison.
