VERNAL Camping restrictions have been issued for a pair of campgrounds on the Ashley National Forest because of black bear sightings.
The U.S. Forest Service said the Moon Lake campground and the Brownie Lake campgrounds were closed to tents after the bears were sighted in the area. Campers and trailers with hard-siding are allowed to camp there.
"My concern is public safety and we are working closely with DWR to monitor the situation," Ashley National Forest supervisor Kevin Elliott said in a statement.
The camp restrictions are until further notice, the forest service said.
