The Jazz on Friday signed 2007 first-round draft choice Morris Almond to a two-year rookie contract believed to be worth approximately $2.09 million — including $1,005,960 in the coming season.

Utah took Almond, a senior shooting guard from Rice and the nation's No. 3 scorer this past season, 25th overall in the June 28 NBA Draft.

The Jazz also own options on the third and fourth years of Almond's contract, as is standard for all deals involving first-round rookies.

Signing paperwork for the slotted-scale salary amounts to a mere formality that needed to be taken care of before Almond begins training camp Monday in advance of next week's Rocky Mountain Revue summer league.

Among the others on Utah's Revue roster is ex-BYU center Rafael Araujo, who played with the Jazz this past season but remains an unrestricted free agent, and Dee Brown, a restricted free agent who was the Jazz's No. 3 point guard last season.

The most notable omission from the summer roster is shooting guard C.J. Miles, a restricted free agent who spent the past two NBA seasons in Utah.

The Jazz, however, still have not ruled out the possibility of Miles playing in the Revue.
