Outdoor notes
The Park City Ice Arena is open and will remain open through April.
This season kicks off with two hockey camps in July, along with a new session of Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey classes, two adult hockey leagues, public skating sessions and drop-in hockey and freestyle.
There are now five sporting venues offered figure skating, hockey, speed skating, curling and broomball.
Organized club programs such as speed skating, women's hockey, curling and sled hockey will start later this summer.

WILDFLOWER FESTIVAL
Second Annual Wildflower Festival is scheduled from June 30 to July 22.
Park rangers and volunteers will be available from 10 a.m. for visitors to learn about and photograph flowers.
Festival highlights include guided walks, interpretive field trips, photography workshops, Junior Ranger scavenger hunts and Zion Canyon Field Institute Classes.
Guided hikes will be offered twice a day and will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the institute at 435-772-3264.
Those attending the festival should be prepared for cool weather.

STATE PARK EVENTS
Utah's state parks host a variety of programs for the entire family.
July 14 Rock Cliff Nature Center at Jordanelle State Park will hold a Junior Ranger Program: Wildflowers, from 11 a.m. to noon. This is for children age 6 to 10. Call 435-782-3030.
July 14 Wasatch Mountain State Park will hold a Junior Ranger Program: Insects, Spiders, and other Creepy Crawlers for children 6 to 12. Starts at 1 p.m. Call 435-654-1791.
July 14 Kodachrome Basin State Park
Kodachrome will hold an After Dark: Astronomy and Stargazing. Call 435-679-8562.

COUGAR, TRAPPING CHANGES
Cougars and changes in trapping will be the subject of public meetings scheduled next week.
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources wants to keep the number of cougars taken during the upcoming hunting season at a level similar to the number taken during the past three seasons.
The meetings to inform and gather public comment are:
July 10 Northern Region at 6 p.m. at Brigham City Community Center, 24 N. 300 West.
July 11 Central Region at 6:30 p.m. at Springville Junior High School, 165 S. 700 East.
July 12 Southern Region at 7 p.m. at Beaver High School, 195 E. Center St.
July 17 Southeastern Region at 6:30 p.m. at John Wesley Powell Museum, 885 E. Main St.
July 18Northeastern Region at 6:30 p.m. at Western Park, 302 E. 200 South in Vernal.
