Hill's Egypt liaison is promoted to general

Hill Air Force Base's international liaison officer representing Egypt was promoted Thursday during a special ceremony.

Col. Ahmed Hesham, who became a brigadier general, arrived at Hill last December and may serve there up to two years.

Hesham is one of about 20 liaisons from different nations who are now stationed at Hill, which has had a liaison from Egypt for the past 15 years. Egypt sends F-16 and F-4 jets to Hill for maintenance.

Brig. Gen. Kathleen Close, recently installed as commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center, will officiate officiated over Hesham's promotion.
