SOLDIER SUMMIT A 65-year-old West Jordan woman was killed Saturday after her car collided with a semi truck in Spanish Fork Canyon.
The woman, whose identity was not immediate released, was driving on state Route 6 when her vehicle crossed over the center line and hit the semi head-on, said Randall Akers, a Utah Highway Patrol trooper. The car then spun out of control and rolled into a ditch, he said.
Witnesses at the scene reported the woman's vehicle was traveling at about 50 mph and was swerving back and forth across the lanes, Akers said.
Police believe the woman, who was not wearing a seat belt, died on impact, Akers said.
The accident occurred at about 4 p.m. near Soldier Summit. The roadway was closed for about 30 minutes after the accident.
