If Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson did choose to run again — which some news stories this past week said he is considering — he has no money left from his past campaigns to help him do so.

However, Anderson told the Deseret Morning News that he has no plans to enter the race late. "I wouldn't have to raise any money, anyway," because so many city voters know him and what he stands for.

According to disclosure forms, Anderson's campaign fund started the year with about $17,000. It had nothing left as of June 1.

Anderson drained it by giving $7,617 to himself, which he said was to repay an old loan to his campaigns. He gave the maximum-allowable donation of $7,500 to Keith Christensen, whom he has endorsed to replace him as mayor.

Much of the rest went to a few other politicians: $250 to the campaign to re-elect Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez; $1,000 to Janneke House, a top aide and former candidate for the City Council; and $2,000 to the failed campaign last year of Sim Gill for district attorney.

Christensen said Anderson didn't need to give his campaign $7,500. "He could have repaid himself that money — it was a very generous donation, and I appreciate it."
