PROVO One of the few B-17 Flying Fortress bombers still in operation will land Monday in Provo, where the public will be able to tour it and purchase flights.
The flying museum and memorial "Sentimental Journey" is scheduled to land at the Provo Municipal Airport at noon Monday.
The B-17 will be on display from noon to 6 p.m., or until the crowd thins out, Monday through Thursday, weather permitting.
The Arizona Wing of the non-profit Commemorative Air Force restored the plane, one of about 10 still-airworthy B-17s out of the 12,731 produced.
Sentimental Journey is a memorial to the men who flew and crewed the planes in World War II, especially those who did not return, as well as the men and women who built the rugged bombers more than 50 years ago, CAF spokesman Rick Senffner said.
A donation of $5 is suggested. The cost of a flight is $425 per person. Passengers must be at least 25 years old and a minimum of five passengers is required per flight. Flights average 45 minutes.
To book flights, call (602) 448-9415. To learn more about Sentimental Journey, visit www.arizonawingcaf.com.
