ST. GEORGE — Police have cited an Ivins woman for unsafe lane change in connection with a fatal motorcycle accident.

The St. George Police Department said in a statement Friday that the motorcycle driven by Douglas Scholes, 47, had made a lane change on St. George Boulevard when Gwendolyn Hastings made an improper right turn across a lane of traffic.

The motorcycle collided with the right rear wheel of her car, and Scholes' excessive speed didn't allow him to avoid the crash, police said.

He was not wearing a helmet and was killed in the crash.
