New RSL striker's first practice cut short due to ankle injury

Robbie Findley's debut training session with Real Salt Lake was cut short at 25 minutes Friday because of an apparent ankle injury, and it appears his new club doesn't believe it's a coincidence.

Asked if he thought Findley was already injured prior to Thursday's trade, Real coach Jason Kreis said, "It's probably not something I should talk about. We're looking into it."

RSL acquired the rookie striker and defensive midfielder Nathan Sturgis from the Los Angeles Galaxy in exchange for veteran midfielder Chris Klein.

If Findley's ankle was indeed already injured prior to the trade, and the Galaxy didn't disclose it, there's really nothing Real Salt Lake can do.

A Major League Soccer spokesman said the league adheres to the same type of policy FIFA has for transfers, that it's a buyer-beware market. The acquiring teams need to make all the necessary inquiries.

Kreis didn't want to get into the specifics after Friday's training session. Findley said the altitude bothered him more than anything.

Findley played 30 minutes against Real Salt Lake last Sunday as a substitute for the Galaxy. His status for today's game against D.C. United is unknown.
