Salt Lake City police were sorting through conflicting stories and looking for a gunman Wednesday after a man was found shot in the back of a car.
An officer who spotted a car driving erratically near Redwood Road and California Avenue (1330 South) made a routine traffic stop just before 1 a.m., said Salt Lake City police detective Jeff Bedard. That's when the officer found a 20-year-old man win a gunshot wound in the backseat.
The bullet that hit the man apparently went through the car and struck the man's left side, Bedard said. The bullet did not break the skin but left a mark, he said. He was taken to a local hospital in good condition. The driver was questioned and released.
The shooting was believed to have occurred near 800 South and 900 West. The incident was believed to be gang related, Bedard said.
