I find it interesting that in a guest editorial ("Curtis has courage to stick to beliefs," My View, June 18), UTA Board members Terry Diehl and Necia Christensen applaud another public official for not listening to the public. Those who make the decisions for us the people should be listening to our opinions and needs.
As a bus rider I was upset when, at the UTA public forum, it really didn't matter what I had to say. The UTA Board members had already made their minds up to raise the fares. I'm glad that the UTA Board thinks that what it is doing is best for bus riders, when its members, on average, don't ride the the bus except on certain occasions.
Maybe it is time for UTA to put actual bus riders on the board.
