I was sad to see that the state Committee of Consumer Services backs the overlay plan for the new area code that is needed in the 801 area (June 14). I feel for the small businesses that will have some expense with an area code change. But, I feel more for homeowners who will have to dial 10 digits every time they need to call that small business or worse their own neighbors. We don't need that hassle.
