St. George police are investigating the deaths of a 23-year-old woman and her 2-month-old daughter.
Police were called to a home on Indian Hills Drive just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, when a man came home and found the bodies of his wife and daughter in a bathroom.
"He changed his clothes and noticed his wife hunched over the tub," St. George Police Sgt. Craig Harding said. "He thought nothing was wrong. He saw her hunched over and started talking to her. She didn't talk back."
It was then the 29-year-old man discovered his wife, Aneka Flores, was dead and so was his infant daughter, Catalina.
The baby was found floating face down in the tub, which had several inches of water in it. Police said CPR failed to revive the child.
Investigators said it appeared that both mother and child had been dead for some time.
"When the officer got there, the baby was cold and rigid," Harding said.
Police said the deaths do not appear suspicious, but the bodies were sent to the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Police said they found no medications, no weapons or any signs of a struggle.
"There's no known medical reasons. There does not appear to be anything unusual or suspicious about it except for it's an unusual situation," Harding said.
The husband told officers he left for work around 6 a.m.
"Prior to leaving, he said he gave her a kiss goodbye and then took off for work," Harding said.
