Windfall spending in Provo

PROVO — Provo's mayor and City Council will decide tonight how they will spend the rest of an unexpected two-year, $4.9 million surplus in sales tax revenue. Here's how they've agreed to spend nearly $3 million of it:

• $1 million, loan guarantee for new Provo Arts Center.

• $855,892, Justice Court remodel and launch.

• $600,000, city employee bonuses and arts center enhancements.

• $185,656, repair storm damage to city parks, golf course.

• $155,220, upgrade parking lot, lighting outside arts center.

• $100,000, remodel city offices, fire station No. 1.

• $51,000, repair storm damage at Provo Municipal Airport.
