Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. nominated Mark W. May as a juvenile court judge for the 3rd District Juvenile Court. Third District covers Summit, Salt Lake, and Tooele counties.

May graduated from Brigham Young University in 1984 and received his law degree from the University of Utah in 1989. May is currently the division chief of the Child Protection Division and worked previously in the Attorney General's Office. He also worked for the Office of the Guardian ad Litem and for the law firm of Moyle & Draper.

"Mark's demonstrated dedication to juvenile justice will be a tremendous asset to Utah's judicial branch," said Huntsman in a news release. "I am grateful for his continued public service."

May's appointment depends now on confirmation by the Utah State Senate.
