Rocky Mountain Power customers can help elderly, disabled and low-income Utahns this month with donations to the Lend-a-Hand program.
Donation envelopes will be included in June electricity bills. Contributions can also be made online at www.utahredcross.org.
Local American Red Cross offices will distribute the funds directly to those who need assistance paying their summer electric costs. According to the power company, air conditioning and refrigeration account for about half of all summer energy consumption.
During the 2005-06 heating season, 1,720 Utah households benefited from $280,000 in Lend-a-Hand donations.
