Convention activities will showcase a number of Utah's attractions, including This Is the Place Heritage Park, rides on the Heber Creeper, visits to the Winter Olympic parks, Utah Opera and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

One event prior to the opening of the convention will be open to the public. From 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, an evening featuring local talent will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Conference Center. Seats in the upper tiers of the center are available to the public for $20.

Rotary's motto, "Service above self," is expected to be reflected throughout the convention. Members will have the opportunity to work with local humanitarian organizations on service projects.

"We are bringing in leaders of education, politics and business from around the world that are humanitarians — they are good people trying to do good in the world," Banks said.
