Freedom Festival events under way

Here's a list of events next week that are part of America's Freedom Festival at Provo:

Thursday, June 14

Flag Retirement Ceremony, pre-event activities begin at 7 p.m. with formal retirement at 8 p.m. at the Macey's Food and Drug Store parking lot, 1230 N. 500 West, Provo. Scout Troop 999 is the host. Residents with worn-out flags may drop them off at the store or see: www.freedomfestival.org for detailed information. Free.

Saturday, June 16

Baby contest, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Utah Valley State College courtyard, 1200 South University Parkway. All children under 30 months of age are eligible. Prizes for the winners in each category. Award winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m. in the UVSC Grand Ballroom in the Sorenson Center. Cost: $15 registration fee.

Thursday, June 21

Carillon Concert Four-Hand Fest, 7 p.m. at the Brigham Young University Carillon Bell Tower. Brings blankets, lawn chairs and picnics and sit on the lawns below the Carillon Tower. Free.
