WEST JORDAN The pharmacy inside an Albertsons grocery store was robbed at gunpoint Monday afternoon.
A slender man wearing a purple shirt and black baseball cap entered the pharmacy near 7000 South and Redwood Road (1700 West) around 3:30 p.m. He lifted a black semi-automatic gun from his waistband, pointed it at the clerk and demanded the narcotic painkiller OxyContin, said West Valley City Police Sgt. Greg Butler. The robber also demanded that three pharmacy workers step away from the counter.
The man obtained the drugs and left the store in a blue Ford Taurus. The car was missing a left-side rear hubcap, Butler said. Witnesses said the robber was about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. His gun may have been a Glock pistol.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call police at 801-840-4000. Callers will be allowed anonymity, Butler said.
