The U.S. Forest Service has raised the cost of firewood permits for the Uinta National Forest for this summer to $7.50 a cord.
Beginning Friday, the Heber Ranger District office will sell permits for wood-cutting. Permits will be sold for a minimum of four cords at $30, and customers can purchase up to 10 cords per year. Permits will be sold until Sept. 28.
Cutting areas include most of the Heber Ranger District. Aspen, fir and spruce trees will be available for cutting until Oct. 15.
More information on the permits can be found at the Heber Ranger District office, located at 2460 S. U.S. 40, or by calling 435-654-0470.
