Here is a list of some of the Christmas activities scheduled for this area. Other holiday activities will be announced in future editions. Holiday events include:
Friday, Nov. 27:- The West Valley City annual Santa Parade starts at at 9 a.m. It begins at 3450 W. 3500 South and continues east along 3500 South to Market Street (2800 West). The parade then heads south on Market Street to Lancer Way (3650 South), and continues east on Lancer Way, concluding at Valley Fair Mall. The parade is sponsored by the Valley West Chamber of Commerce, which serves West Valley City, Taylorsville and Kearns, along with Valley Fair Mall.
- Santa arrives at Valley Fair Mall at 10 a.m. Photo opportunities start at 10:30 a.m.
- Santa arrives at ZCMI Center at 8 a.m. for a Breakfast with Santa event. Free tickets for 500 children are available at the mall customer service center.
- Santa arrives at Crossroads Plaza at 9 a.m.
- Santa arrives at Fashion Place Mall at 9 a.m.
- The lights go on at 5:30 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City.
- The downtown ZCMI Christmas windows are unveiled at 5:45 p.m.
- The lights go on at Temple Square at 6 p.m. when Elder Andrew W. Peterson of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints flips the switch. A brief ceremony will be held in the Tabernacle at 5:30 p.m. with the Mormon Youth Chorus and Symphony performing several Christmas musical numbers and a brief talk by Elder Peterson.
- The Clipper Electric Light Parade in Bountiful begins at 6 p.m. on Main Street from 300 North to Five Points Mall. Sponsored by the Davis County Clipper, the parade will feature 30 floats, vehicles and marching groups - and the last one will hold Santa. Mall shoppers can talk to Santa afterwards.
- The Dickens' Christmas Festival opens at the Utah State Fairpark with free admission from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will run on Monday-Thursday from 4-10 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Dec. 12. Admission is $6 for adults; $3 for children and seniors. Children under 5 get in free.
Saturday, Nov. 28
