Zions Bank and Utah Woolen Mills are hosting a public block party tonight from 8 to 9 p.m. to celebrate their ability to remain open while the City Creek Center project is under way.

Despite construction surrounding them, those two businesses, along with Deseret Book and O.C. Tanner, will be open for business.

Construction for the 20-acre center — which will include offices, condominiums and apartments, and retail shops — began late in late 2006. The center's developer, Property Reserve Inc., the real-estate arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, expects construction to be completed mid-2011.

The party will feature complimentary food and entertainment. The event will take place in front of Utah Woolen Mills and Zions Bank on Main Street and South Temple.
