A driver was pulled, unhurt, from his taxicab after it landed upside down in the Jordan River on Tuesday.
The mishap occurred about 2:45 p.m. when the taxi clipped the rear end of a blue Honda and crashed through a fence near the intersection of 1700 South and Riverside Drive (1140 West).
The drivers of both the Honda and the taxi thought they had green lights, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Dave Hoffman.
Two passersby who saw the car in the water rushed to the driver's aid, Hoffman said. They pulled him out and he was not injured.
The driver of the Honda was not injured, Hoffman said.
