Minersville names acting mayor

MINERSVILLE, Beaver County — Senior Minersville City Council member Ben Dalton was appointed as the city's acting mayor after Mayor Robert Craw was seriously injured in a railyard accident.

The appointment came by vote of the City Council Monday night after the panel received advice from the Utah League of Cities &Towns.

Craw was injured June 1 after he fell under a moving box car. The car rolled over both his legs. He remains hospitalized at LDS Hospital. Family members and the hospital have declined to release condition updates based on his request.

"He can't be replaced," said Sue Carter the Minersville town clerk. "We're just trying to take care of town business for the time being."
