Workers in downtown Salt Lake City can escape today's climbing temperatures with ice cream for a good cause.
Ice cream cones from the Spotted Dog Creamery will be available for a $3 donation or five cans of food for Utah Food Bank Services. The Gallivan Center's Brown Bag concert series will provide music, and an art exhibit will also be on display in honor of National Hunger Awareness Day. Ice cream is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event also kicks off the Utah Food Bank's summer business food drive with an evening "Summer Hunger Jam" featuring musician Peter Breinholt. The 6 p.m. concert is free, but cash and food donations are encouraged at the gate.
All events take place at the Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main.
