His post-legislative fund-raising efforts haven't pushed him ahead in the pack: He was in fourth place in February.

One figure that stands out in Friday's report is this period's contribution total reported by City Councilwoman Nancy Saxton — only $100 raised since Feb. 15. Her total of $64,865 puts her in fifth place.

But Saxton said she didn't know Friday was a filing deadline, and she leaves that type of business to her campaign manager. She insists she has raised significantly more than $100, though she isn't sure how much, and said she will likely file an amended report after she clears the issue up.

"We've had a good bit of money coming in," Saxton said. "It hasn't been my No. 1 priority. I've been out knocking on doors."

The most recent Dan Jones & Associates poll, commissioned in early April for the Deseret Morning News and KSL-TV, shows that fund-raising totals and support among poll respondents don't necessarily correspond. While Wilson is in second place in raising money, she had first place, with 20 percent of voters' support, in the April poll.

And fund-raising leader Christensen, who has led in the cash race in both reporting periods, polled in fifth place in April, with only 4 percent of voters' support. Buhler was second, with 12 percent, Becker pulled in 9 percent, and Saxton had the support of 5 percent of voters.

The next reporting date is Aug. 1. The field of candidates will be narrowed to two in a Sept. 11 primary, and Salt Lake City's next mayor will be chosen in the Nov. 6 general election.
