Salt Lake Acting Company's annual parody of local politics and society and several Broadway musicals are on tap this week for theatergoers.

SATURDAY'S VOYEUR: THE ROCKY SHOW (CLOSING SOON), opening Wednesday at Salt Lake Acting Company, 168 W. 500 North, focuses on outgoing Mayor Rocky Anderson's legacy — staged as a TV variety show airing "live" from a studio at SLAC. It continues through Aug. 12.

There'll be appearances by actors portraying Jon Huntsman, Peter Corroon, Enid Greene, the entire Salt Lake City Council, Larry Miller, Chris Buttars, Scott McCoy, Gayle Ruzicka, Mitt Romney and even the Jazz Bear, along with entertainment by Rocky's Lame Duck Dancers, as well as pledge breaks with local NPR and PBS celebrities "Doug Caprizzio" and "Mary Vixen."

John Caywood is directing a cast that includes such "Saturday's Voyeur" veterans as Christopher Glade, Brenda Sue Cowley, Alexis Baigue, Jeanette Puhich, Colleen Baum, Annette Wright, Rock H. White and Arika Schockmel. Kevin Doyle, making his first "Voyeur" appearance, tackles the role of Mayor Anderson.

Co-authored by Allen Nevins and Nancy Borgenicht, the show is presented cabaret-style with patrons invited to bring their own food and beverages. SLAC also warns that the production contains adult material and language.

Discounted previews will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $39 for regular seating and tables and $44 for "skybox" seating. Regular prices range from $44-$54 for performances at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 and 7 p.m. on Sundays, with one Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. on June 30 (363-7522 or www.saltlakeactingcompany.org).

THE TAFFETAS, a "girl-group" revue that served as the inspiration for "Forever Plaid," is opening Friday in Desert Star Dinner Theatre, 4861 S. State, Murray. The plot revolves around four sisters in the Eisenhower era making their leap from Muncie, Ind., to a debut on national television.

The cast includes Brooklyn Pulver (taking a break from her role as Tracy in the national touring company of "Hairspray"), Heather Elmer, Jennifer Nix Royall, Julie Ann Heaton, Kirsten Nagel and Megan Jennings. They'll sing such '50s hits as "Mr. Sandman," "Where the Boys Are," "Puppy Love," "Johnny Angel" and "Sh-Boom."

The open-end run will have performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. Optional buffet dinner begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $13.95-$17.95 for adults and $8 for children. Buffet prices are $11.95 for adults and $6.99 for children (266-2600).
