PROVO Memorial Day visitors to areas in the Uinta National Forest should be aware of the following tips to enjoy a safe holiday weekend.
Fire restrictions are not in force, but visitors are asked to use caution when building campfires.
Most campgrounds are open except Mill Hollow Campground and Wolf Creek Campground. Access to the Tinney Flat Campground is currently only from the Payson side because of a rockslide. Little Mill campground is closed.
Reservations for campsites can be made online at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. Campsite reservations need to be made at least seven days in advance.
No parking is available at the Three Forks Trailhead. Visitors wanting to hike the Three Forks trail need to access it from the Fifth Water Trailhead, located approximately seven miles up the paved Sheep Creek Road.
Visitors are urged to avoid muddy or wet areas because of damage vehicles can cause.
