Sen. John McCain was recently criticized for remarking that former Massachusett Gov. Mitt Romney should "get out his small varmint gun and drive those Guatemalans off his lawn." Sen. McCain said this in response to Gov. Romney's criticism of pending immigration legislation co-sponsored by Sen. McCain.
In contrast to Gov. Romney's most recent opinions about immigration, the Boston Globe reported that he routinely paid workers from Guatemala to trim up the yard about his Massachusetts estate. These workers did not have valid employment visas.
Perhaps Sen. McCain's comments were in bad taste. But Gov. Romney and his supporters best brace themselves for similar attacks as he mounts one of the most cynical presidential campaigns in recent memory.
