Many activities planned for Memorial weekend

The following are some public activities taking place during the Memorial Day weekend:

Antelope Island State Park

Monday: All-day event at the historic Fielding Garr Ranch on the island. Learn about the history of the ranch as well as quilting, dipping candles, making pioneer lanterns, games, races, singing.

Fort Douglas Cemetery

Monday: 9:15 a.m. Memorial march, from Building 108 to Soldiers Circle at the historic fort.

10 a.m.: Memorial Day ceremony, guest speaker Amanda Dickson of KSL Radio News and talk show.

Noon, Flag restoration ceremony.

Hill Aerospace Museum

Hill Air Force Base

Monday: 10 a.m. ceremony, Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. and Senate President John Valentine speaking.

11 a.m. Flag ceremony.

Noon chapel service.

Museum is open from noon to 4 p.m.

Holladay Memorial Park

Sunday: 6 p.m. Band concert

Monday: 10 a.m. Memorial Day program with flag-raising ceremony American Legion Post #71, Utah Air National Guard, Sons of Utah Pioneers, the Salt Lake Scots Pipe Band.
