The Mormon History Association is sponsoring a three-day conference, "Crossroads and Confrontations," today through Sunday.
The event, in the Hilton Salt Lake City Center, 255 S. West Temple, will focus on the 1850s Mormon War. Historians will discuss local and national tensions involving Mormons during the era, including President James Buchanan's decision to send U.S. troops to Utah to subdue the "Utah rebellion."
The public is welcome. Tickets are $120 and registration is available at mhahome.org or at the door. Historians will attend post-conference tours Sunday and Monday to Mountain Meadows and prominent Utah War sites. Guests may attend these tours for an additional fee.
