Events of Pony Express Days

Thursday, May 31

• Baby contest — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall, 1650 E. Stagecoach Run. Registration forms available at: www.eaglemountaincity.com. Entry fee: $8. Theme for the event is "American Heroes." First-place winners in each category ride in the Pony Express Days parade with a parent.

• Dune buggy tours — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Take an all-terrain buggy tour along the Pony Express Trail. Cost: $75 per couple. Tours are approximately two hours. Call Motormax Power Sports, 649-4050, for reservations.

• Carnival and vendor booths — 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Nolan Park.

• Battle of the Bands — 4-9:30 p.m. SilverLake Amphitheater, 7920 N. Silver Lake Parkway (off Pony Express Blvd.). Watch country bands duke it out for a chance to be a pre-opening act for the Sawyer Brown concert. Call 420-2111 for information.

• Movie under the stars — Gates open at 8 p.m. at SilverLake Amphitheater for "Night at the Museum." Free. Donations of $1 per person or $5 per family will be accepted for the Pony Express Elementary PTA.

Friday, June 1

• Dune buggy tours — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tours available. Call Motorman Power Sports at 649-4050 for reservations.

• Helicopter rides — 2 p.m. until dusk at the Ranches Academy, 7789 N. Tawny Owl Circle. Cost $25 per person. Get a view of your home and surrounding environment in a Pathfinder Helicopter tour.

• Carnival and vendor booths — from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Nolan Park.

• Battle of the Bands finals — 4-9:30 p.m. on the Nolan Park stage.

• B5 Concert to benefit city parks — 7 p.m. at the SilverLake Amphitheater. Cost: $10 at the door.

Saturday, June 2

• Golf tournament — 8 a.m. at the Ranches Golf Club, 4128 E. Clubhouse Drive. Cost: $65, includes a shirt, lunch and golf with a cart. See: www.theranchesgolfclub.com or call 789-8100 for information.
