You're a good BYU production, 'Charlie Brown'
Fun family musical begins Wednesday at Pardoe Theatre
PROVO Charlie Brown, Lucy Van Pelt, Snoopy and the rest of the "Peanuts" gang will be singing, dancing and philosophizing their way on stage in the popular musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," at Brigham Young University.
The family musical, based on Charles Schulz's comic strip characters written by Clark Gesner, will walk audience members through a day in the life of one of Schulz's best-known personalities, Charlie Brown.
"Happiness is" found in the charming quirks of each of the characters, from Linus' infatuation with his blanket to Charlie Brown's unrequited love for the little red-haired girl. Keep an eye out for the canine antics of Charlie Brown's dog Snoopy, one of the most favored characters of the Peanuts crew, and of course Lucy and Schroeder.
Charlie Brown will be played by Tyler Wright. Sally will be played by Megan Moffat, Lucy by Makenna Garner, Linus by Brandon Roach, Schroeder by Kevin Jordan and Snoopy by Hank Florence.
The musical is directed by George Nelson, with Ross Boothe as music director and Michelle Boothe as choreographer.
Of special interest to families is the "Lunch 'n' Learn" which gives children an opportunity to learn more about the show and the comic strip. Audience members are welcome to join the cast and crew for a free lunch, stage tour and fun activities. Enrollment is limited, so register early at performances.byu.edu for a choice of matinee dates.
Activities will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the north lobby of the Pardoe Theatre in the Harris Fine Arts Center, followed by a matinee performance
For more information on the "Lunch 'n' Learn" activity, call the Fine Arts Ticket Office at 801- 422-7664.
There will also be a "Meet the Company" session following every performance.
