MOOSE, Wyo. Two Wyoming men were cited last week for allegedly poaching elk antlers inside Grand Teton National Park.
Blane Gilliland, 41, of Saratoga, and Daniel Karn, 30, of Jackson, were issued violation notices totaling more than $1,400, according to a news release issued by the park.
Park rangers reported finding the men with 65 pounds of elk antlers in their possession in a wildlife closure area more than two miles inside the park boundary. It is illegal to remove any natural item including rocks, flowers, antlers and bones from national parks.
