Brigham City Community Hospital and H2U will present "Walking Tall," an informative program focused on issues of menopause and osteoporosis hosted by Dr. Daniel R. Ferguson, on Wednesday, May 23.

A light lunch starting at 12:30 p.m. will be served before the presentation. Cost for this event is $3. This program will be held in the Garden Room on the northeast side of the hospital, 950 S. Medical Drive, in Brigham City. Pre-registration is required; call 1-435-734-4358.

Bone loss may occur without symptoms. People may not know that they have osteoporosis until their bones become so weak that a sudden strain, bump or fall causes a fracture or a vertebra to collapse.

According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, osteoporosis and low bone mass affect 44 million women and men aged 50 and older in the United States. The 10 million people with osteoporosis and 34 million with low bone mass represent 55 percent of the people aged 50 and older. The good news is that osteoporosis can be detectable and preventable.
