SUMMER SCHOOL: Second-year point guard Deron Williams tries to help rookie Ronnie Brewer cope with little playing time this season and especially now in the playoffs. "Ronnie's struggled a lot this year because his playing time has been up and down, he's had to learn to sit," Williams said. "It's tough on him especially when you feel like you can help the team. I was there last year. I thought I could help the team, but coach (Jerry Sloan) has other things in mind. I told him he's got to accept that."

Williams and Carlos Boozer advise Brewer to use the down time as motivation. "I just hope he'll take that to heart when he goes home this summer," Williams said. "Use it to come back stronger, better shape, work on his jumper; there's a lot of things he can work on."

Boozer said he didn't play much his first 30 games as a rookie. "It made me work harder. I started the last 52 games of my rookie year."

CONFIDENT: Williams made obvious strides from the end of last season to the July Rocky Mountain Revue, but he insists it wasn't in his game, it was in his head. "I thought I could do that stuff last year. I just had no confidence. Confidence was shot. When you feel like you should be playing and you're not, it's hard," he said.

CLARK JAILED: Former Jazz player Keon Clark spent Thursday in Vermilion (Ill.) County Jail, arrested for two outstanding warrants in Champaign County for failure to appear in court on previous charges for driving on a suspended license and for criminal trespass. On Monday, he had pleaded guilty to Vermilion County charges from a September 2005 traffic incident in which police said they searched his car and found a handgun, cannabis and cocaine. He had no ID card for the gun and pleaded guilty to that count, drug charges and driving under the influence, according to the Champaign News-Gazette.
