HILL AIR FORCE BASE — Brig. Gen. Kathleen Close has been recommended as the new commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said.

If confirmed by the Senate, Close would become a major general and replace Maj. Gen. Kevin Sullivan, who has been nominated for an Air Force job in Washington, D.C.

The Air Logistics Center is Hill's largest unit, Hatch's office said. Close would be the first female commander at Hill.

"She's an exceptional leader with a distinguished record of leading Air Force maintenance operations," Hatch said in a statement. "Hill is a world-class depot, and Gen. Close is going to help keep it that way."
