Most popular attraction: Rainbow Bridge

Best time to go: If you're looking for less traffic, try autumn, when the water and the weather are still warm but the crowds are waning.

Insider advice: More and more kayakers are discovering Lake Powell. They can hire a water taxi to transport them to a remote area of the lake and return to pick them up. The lake level is expected to be approximately what it was last summer — about 100 feet below full, said Kevin Schneider, spokesman for Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

Thanksgiving Point

What's new: Plein Air Art Festival, June 22-23

Most popular feature: Dinosnorzz Museum Sleepover at the Museum of Ancient Life, various dates throughout the summer.

Best time to go: Family Night on the Farm at Farm Country from 6-8 p.m. each Monday offers games and crafts for all ages.

Insider advice: After the tulip season, gardeners dig up all the spring bulbs, which go on sale beginning June 1 for $3 a dozen. It's a grab bag. You won't know what colors or types you're getting, but they'll surprise you next spring. And the Ice Cream Shop near the water tower sells 25-cent cones, a cool treat on a hot day.

Lagoon

What's new: A launch roller coaster called Wicked will be the amusement park's fastest and tallest. It will shoot riders 110 feet straight up, and conforming to the laws of physics, what goes up will head back down. It then follows a series of sharp turns and banks and makes a heartline roll (that's upside-down to people who aren't familiar with the lingo). It's scheduled to be operational by mid-June.

Most popular attraction: The white wooden roller coaster, which has been the park's visual icon since it was reconstructed in 1953, remains as popular as ever.

Best time to go: Any day but Saturday, if you're looking for smaller crowds.
