Looking to regain the momentum it had when "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost" were the hottest shows on TV, ABC announced an ambitious schedule that revamps five nights, adds eight shows in the fall and has four more coming our way.
As expected, the network is adding a "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff and a sitcom based on a series of insurance commercials. And the network has turned to the producers of the only real hit it debuted last fall, "Brothers & Sisters," for both a new fall show ("Dirty Sexy Money") and a midseason replacement series ("Eli Stone").
"Lost" is not on the fall schedule and ABC isn't saying when it will premiere, but the network had previously announced that the 16-episode fourth season would run on consecutive weeks.
NEW SHOWS ABC is adding for the 2007-08 season:
Sam I Am (Mondays, 8:30 p.m.) is a sitcom about Samantha (Christina Applegate) who has no memory of her life she was a shrew and starts from scratch.
Cavemen (Tuesdays, 7 p.m.) is a sitcom "inspired" by the Geico commercials.
Carpoolers (Tuesdays, 7:30 p.m.) is a sitcom about four guys who bond/commiserate while commuting to work.
Private Practice (Wednesdays, 8 p.m.) is the "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff centering on Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh).
Pushing Daisies (Wednesdays, 7 p.m.) is a comedy/drama about a young man who can touch dead things and bring them back to life.
Dirty Sexy Money (Wednesdays, 9 p.m.) is a comedy/drama about an idealistic lawyer (Peter Krause) who takes over as the personal lawyer for the absurdly wealthy, decidedly odd Darling family (played by Donald Sutherland, William Baldwin and Jill Clayburgh, among others).
Big Shots (Thursdays, 9 p.m.) is a drama about four big-time CEOs (Michael Vartan, Dylan McDermott, Christopher Titus and Joshua Malina) who support each other "through life's twists and turns."
Women's Murder Club (Fridays, 8 p.m.) is a drama based on James Patterson's novels. Four women (detective, district attorney, medical examiner and reporter) solve murders.
AFTER THE END of the fall seasons of "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Bachelor," ABC plans to bring back "Notes from the Underbelly" and "October Road" on Monday nights and add one new show:
Cashmere Mafia (Mondays, time TBA) is a drama about four "ambitious and sexy women" who have been best friends since business school.
