The NBA has upgraded Baron Davis' hard foul on Utah's Derek Fisher to a flagrant 2, but will not suspend the Warriors guard for tonight's Game 5, the league announced Tuesday.
Davis hit Fisher during the closing minutes of the Jazz's 115-105 win Sunday night in Oakland. Fisher, who was knocked to the floor holding his head, has said he did think the foul warranted a suspension. No foul was called on Davis at that time.
"I think it's fair," Davis said Tuesday of the NBA's action against him. "I didn't intend to hurt nobody out there, especially a good friend in Derek Fisher."
Davis apologized to Fisher, who was well enough to finish the game.
"I think the game is played at too intense of a level and too emotional of a level to be able to after a game go back and judge what a guy's intention was," Fisher said.
Additionally, Jazz guard Dee Brown, who was injured in Game 2 in a collision with teammate Mehmet Okur, is expected to suit up for tonight's game. Brown has missed the last two games with a neck injury.
