Celebrating theater during the summer

Published: Sunday, May 20 2007 12:42 a.m. MDT

From Shakespeare to Broadway, there are musicals and plays for all ages during the summer — some as part of the state's long-running festivals, others produced by community arts councils.

One major change in the 2007 summer theater calendar is that Desert Star Cabaret Theatre has dropped its previously planned production of "Indiana Bones and the Shirley Temple of Doom." Instead, they're presenting "Less Miserable(s): A Revolution of Comedy," another parody, which coincides with Pioneer Theatre Company's hot-selling regional premiere of "Les Miserables."

Salt Lake Shakespeare is in hiatus this summer, and StageRight TheaterCompany, which is in the process of looking for a new home, has postponed most of its current season until further notice.
