Headline was misleading

Saturday's headline, "Anti-LDS bias running high," was terribly misleading. It conflicted fully with what the article actually said.

The article and survey graphic made it clear that while 33 percent of U.S. university faculty have unfavorable feelings toward Mormons, 40 percent have favorable feelings. Further, the article explains that 53 percent of faculty have unfavorable feelings toward evangelical Christians. If you wanted to paint a religion as victim to this pervasive "bias," the headline clearly should have referred to Evangelicals.

If you are looking for a group who holds a negative view of Mormons, it's not university faculty but the Evangelical Christians. Having spent 12 of the last 24 months in the South, and being prone to discuss religion, I can say that the overwhelming view that born-again Christians have of Mormons is negative — not because of stereotypes or "bias," but because they know what Mormons believe and they don't like it.
