To deter people from drinking and driving during the Memorial Day weekend and during high school graduation season, the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office has announced several administrative checkpoints.
Cottonwood Heights will have several checkpoints from May 24 through June 10.
In addition, the sheriff's Canyon Patrol deputies will work in conjunction with the Youth Alcohol Enforcement Units to do a checkpoint in Butterfield Canyon during the first two weeks of June.
At a checkpoint, all motorists will be required to stop and show proof of a valid driver's license, vehicle registration and insurance. Impaired drivers will be detained, according to the sheriff's office.
